Lots Happening!

Curves
Hey All!  Here is the latest from YOUR club!

* On Saturday, a large contingent of cars from ZCCR (and friends) and ZACNY cruised down to Watkins Glen International Raceway to celebrate the opening of another racing season.  Under blue skies, the group took to the track for three spirited laps around the historic course.  We capped off the day with lunch in the village on the shore of Seneca Lake.  Thanks to Scott Kozlowski for coordinating this event.  A new picture gallery is posted here, and if you've more photo's of the day please send them to Mike or me to be uploaded & shared. Speaking of photo's, check out the First event we snuck a couple ZCCR Z-Cars into this Spring, MotorMania 2010 ... and if you snap photo's of a future event, or if you've photo's of your personal car that you'd like to share, send them to our VP for posting in your club's web gallery!

* Members have started inquiring about ZCCR's participation in the ZCCA International Z Convention in Nashville, TN.  ZCON is not an "official" ZCCR event, but we do encourage our members to participate.  While there will be no club arrangements to attend ZCON, I am sure that there will be groups of ZCCR members interested in going down together. Please feel free to send me an email for broadcast to the club to help coordinate this.  This is the 40th anniversary of the Z and Nissan is holding the car show at its corporate headquarters near Nashville.  The dates are Wed. July 28 to Sun. Aug. 1.  Complete details can be found at www.zcon2010.com

* The next club event
will be a General Membership Meeting on Wednesday May 12 at HOSE 22 RESTAURANT on Stutson St. near Lake Ave. in Charlotte.  Dinner at 6pm, meeting at 7pm.  Plenty of parking, guest speaker and the latest information on club happenings.

* Vice President Mike Noonan
and I have a 1983 280ZX parts car that is being disassembled soon. It is a southern rust free car.  The only parts not available are the engine, transmission and rear end.  Sing out if there is a part you are looking for.

* Our BIG event
, the All Japanese Car Show Weekend is shaping up to be special indeed!  Please check the website regularly for the latest news and surprises on the event.  We have some VERY SPECIAL things in store with more being added all the time!  Take a look at the links on the website and REGISTER SOON to ensure your spot!

* FINALLY
, we have a hearty crew of 10 headed to the first annual East Coast Z Nationals at the Carlisle Import/Kit Nationals in Carlisle, PA on May 21-23.  We have reserved some hotel suites and have room for TWO MORE participants.  If you are interested in going, get back to me ASAP.  First come, first served!

LotZ more to come!  Stay tuned.....

Spring it IS !!

Curves
Hello All!  Welcome to SPRING!  Finally!!

Here is your latest ZCCR update on the first weekend of Spring 2010:

* Our first driving event of the year will be a trip to Watkins Glen International for Opening Day of the track on Saturday, April 24th.  Drive in the tracks of legends! Take your car for three paced laps following in the tracks of racing greats Jackie Stewart, Mario Andretti and Tony Stewart. Enjoy a cruise to the Track, Warm laps on the course, and then Lunch with follow Z Folks. Please reply to Scott Kozlowski via email skoz@rochester.rr.com, if you would like to attend.

* Plans are coming together nicely for this year's BIGGEST event, the All Japanese Car Show Weekend, scheduled for July 9-11.  The complete schedule, hotel accommodations and registration information will be posted in your email and on the website soon. We have a host hotel for the event, the Holiday Inn Express and Suites located at 860 Holt Rd., Webster, NY, who have offered a very special rate for attendees. This is going to be HUGE, so I would encourage you to register as soon as possible.  There are a few bigger and better additions to this year's event:
- FRIDAY kickoff party at my home for members and event guests.  Food and beverage provided by ZCCR.
- SATURDAY All Japanese Car Show.  This year we are pleased to be at the Webster-Fairport Elks Lodge located at 1066 Jackson Rd. in Webster 9am-4pm.  There will be plenty of lawn space for the show cars, plenty of parking for spectators, BBQ food, music, raffles, prizes, specialty vendors and more.  There will also be a very special display of historic Z-Cars sure to never again be duplicated.
- SATURDAY EVENING there will be an on-your-own dinner/dance at the Elk's Lodge.  The Elks will have a full dinner menu and bar available.  A live band will play for your listening and dancing pleasure.
- SUNDAY morning at approximately 8:30am we will gather for a leisurely road rally to beautiful Watkins Glen NY.  When we arrive at our destination, Watkins Glen International Raceway, we will stage for warm laps in our own cars, then enjoy a catered lunch at the WGI clubhouse with special seating to take in the rest of the day's racing action.
Full details and registration information will be posted here on the website by the end of March, please look for it!  We expect participants from all over the USA and Canada and want YOU to be a part of it.

*  And now that spring is here and those warm breezes will (hopefully) soon get us driving more and more, those wonderful weekly cruise nights will be starting.  Watch your email to keep track of where ZCCR will be that night.  Here is a very cool link to get you in the mood for summer cruise nights:

http://www.examiner.com/x-25726-Phoenix-Wheels-Examiner~y2010m1d26-Scottsdale-McDonalds-celebrates-20-years-hosting-car-show

* Finally, USA Today published a very comprehensive review of the 370Z roadster.  For those of you thinking about dropping the top on one, take a look:

Spring has certainly taken its time getting here!  Remember just how short our driving season actually is, so let's see ALL of you out there....starting NOW.

2010 All Japanese Car Show Week-end featuring Watkins Glen International

Curves Hey all!

ZCCR has set the dates for our 2010 "All Japanese Car Weekend"!  The event will run from Friday July 9 to Sunday July 11
(Please note that the dates have been CHANGED from any previously released information)

I am encouraging you to set these dates aside so you can join us for this very special summer Z event.

The schedule of events:

Friday July 9Kickoff party for all participants.  Refreshments provided free of charge.
Saturday July 10: The Third Annual "Jonathan Krenzer Memorial All Japanese Car Show".  Spend the day at a multi-class car show featuring the best of Japan old and new.  Saturday evening gather at a local establishment of fine food and drink to relive the events of the day.
Sunday July 11:  Start the morning with a road rally through the twisty roads of New York's Finger Lakes region to the historic Watkins Glen International raceway.  Participants will enjoy warm laps around the race course (they like to call them the 'Thunder Road' tours) in their cars then stay for a catered lunch in the WGI clubhouse. What is a lap around New York's Thunder Road really like? How about this: Follow the pace car down the FrontStretch into the Ninety, twist, climb and claw your way up through the Esses and onto the BackStretch, braking as you hit the Inner Loop and navigate the Carousel turn, then drop off the face of the earth into the depths of the turn-heavy Boot, climb your way out into Turn Ten, regain your senses and make a run for the finish line!

Here is a link to photos of the 2009 event.

Full details and pre-registration for the event will be available early next year. This is shaping up to be the biggest 2010 Z/Japanese car event in the northeast! Please share this information with your friends and club members and keep checking our website for the latest information.

Peaze,
