 Successful Street Machine Show Results & M O R E !! |
|
Hey All! Here's the latest from your club!
* Yesterday ZCCR participated in the Street Machines of Rochester 36th annual outdoor auto show held at Badgerow Park in Greece. TWENTY-SEVEN Zs turned out to represent the club and take home the Club Participation Award for the fourth year in a row! Thanks to all of you who came out in less than desirable weather to join in on the fun. The sun did finally make an appearance at the noon hour and thousands of spectators turned out to enjoy the rides of all types. In addition to the above mentioned award, ZCCR members showed well with Ron Bucci (1990 300ZX) taking home the Best of Club award, congratulations Ron! Also winning the Top 75 (out of 418 cars) Awards were: Bob Mooney (1973 240Z), Frank McGinley (1994 300ZXTT) and yours truly (1970 240Z). Thanks to the Street Machines for once again putting on a great show!
* IF ANY OF YOU HAVE PICTURES from yesterday's Street Machines Show, please email them to me so we can include them in a photo album in our website gallery.
* This coming Saturday June 19 the Rochester Red Wings will be hosting ZCCR to a night at the ballpark. The club is underwriting most of the cost of the event so member cost is only $7.50 per person for an upper box seat, free preferred parking at the main gate and a $5 certificate for use at the concessions. Deadline for tickets is TODAY, so contact Mike Yendrzeski to reserve your tickets.
* Our friends to the east in Albany, the Z Association of NY are hosting their annual car show on June 26. This is a wonderful event held at the Saratoga NY Auto Museum. Here is a link to see all of the information.
* If you need parts for your Z, we are making parts available to members from two 1973 240Zs and a 1983 280ZX. Send me an email if you are looking for something. * Last but certainly not least, ZCCR's MAIN EVENT, the All Japanese Car Show Weekend is only 4 weeks away! We already have participants registered from all over the northeast, mid-Atlantic and Canada. We even have one fellow driving here from Arizona to join in on the fun! Events include: - Friday evening FREE kickoff party - Saturday Car Show - Saturday evening dinner dance with LIVE music - Sunday road rally to Watkins Glen - Laps at Watkins Glen International - Lunch at the WGI Clubhouse to watch the afternoon SCCA racing! With this HUGE Z event right here in your own backyard, why haven't YOU signed up? Here is a link to the registration form with complete details. Complete details are in the homepage header here at the site. Not only is this a big event in the hobby this year, it also helps out local charities of whom many club members have benefited from. This maintains the club philosophy of helping out others in the community we call home. So sign up, come out and enjoy! It's your club, it's your home. We look forward to seeing you there. The cars are great, the people are better. John Taddonio "zcarnut" 70,78,87,03 Z-CarsPresident, Z Car Club of Rochester NY

Highlights this year are:
* The annual Chili Cook-Off! WHO has the best chili and can take home the title for 2010? Can Bob Anderson successfully defend his 2009 title? Who has the Rolaids? Participant voting on what chili is best, a special prize to the winner! All invited to participate, bring out your best! * Presentation of the 2009 ZCCR Member of the Year award! This honor is bestowed on the ZCCR member who went above and beyond the call of duty in the past year to promote the club, fellowship and the Z philospohy of "Love Cars, Love People, Love Life". * Will "Phil the Groundhog" see his shadow and doom us to 6 more weeks of winter OR will he come out and enjoy some chili and give us an early spring?
Please bring a dish to pass (even if you don't participate in the chili contest). Hot and cold beverage to be provided by ZCCR. Come enjoy a roaring fire and catch up with your frends. Let's thaw out the winter and look forward to ZCCR's BEST year ever!

 What a DAY !!! |
|
The weather God's showered the rays of the mighty Apollo down upon us in such multitude that we sit here, post-cruise, in a state of bliss so strong that winters' harshness may never penetrate our new found aura!
Oh, of course ... in English please! Wow, did we have a brilliant day to cruise the heart of the Finger Lakes! Crystal clear powder blue skies, gentle cooling breezes, and colors, my goodness, the colors of Fall were simply outstanding. ZCCR's members and guests found perfection on this years Fall Foliage Cruise - shopping for the ladies, beer tasting for the gentlemen, sweets and treats at the pumpkin stand, vista's from the high-plateau overlook that screamed AmaZZZing, a cruise route to die for ... I've got to tell you this gang went home with such large smiles that we think they'll weather putting their Z's away shortly in fine fashion.
All together we had 22 participants and a doZen cars merge together for a fine, fine day. We traced the shores of Canandaigua Lake, we ran the belly of Italy Valley, we twisted, turned and doubled-back on switchbacks that even confounded the hot-stuff 'Glen' driver we had tagging along (his knickname is 'Brickyard' and his navigator said she'd never seen him scoot soooo-fast past upcoming turns before - seems that when he twists that Z of his more than 270 degrees around a corner his compass goes into overdrive and his lead-foot tromps down even harder than normal ;-)
The cars ... roadsters, coupes, classics and new-style, modified, stock ... they were all represented and then some ... we even collected a Datsun pick-up and the awesome GT-(NOT2)40 super car of 'Doc' Robbins for our jaunt through the hills.
You missed a special day if you didn't make this cruise, but we'll give you another shot at striking out on your own special-day if you'll go here and download the Fall Foliage cruise instructions and map that we've now posted.
The next Zuper Special event up for your maximum enjoyment will be the club's Holiday Party at Mickey Finn's Station One restaurant in Victor ... but you'll have to wait for December for that hot-time. For now get that Z outta the barn, get the motor revvin' and hit the highways near home ... THIS is the optimum time to be out with your honey and seeing the countryside through the windshield of your favorite sports car!
OK, I've gotta go now, the temperatures are dipping, the frost is forming, and the cider is simmering ... I'm going straight to the hot tub and I'm gonna slip in, close my eyes, get back behind the wheel of my garage queen and I'm gonna relive the splendor of our ride in the country again and again!
Hope to see you all soon, Mike Noonan VP ZCCR GOTMOXZ Driver Happy Camper
