ZCCR Update 5-21-12

Must Exit
Hey All!  Here is the latest from ZCCR:

* The ZCCR ZcarnutZ hit the road once more heading to the 2012 Carlisle Import DayZ as we call it. They toured the local Harley manufacturing plant, hit several local pubs, spiffed/shined & showed their current rides, dined on the riverside, then hit the twistiest Central PA back-roads for some serious car exerciZe before calling it a loooong week-end! Next year we hear the West Coast is back on their radar. Many thanks to all who participated for keeping it real one more time!

This years crew included Ricky Ricardo, The Prof, KoZ, RedRocketMan, GotmoxZ, Nasty, the FuZZ, & the Poooolack...if you know them you'll know their more familiar names as well :) Oh and there were a couple newbie's too - Mr. Ford Small-Block & the Chuckster more than held their own keepin' up with the more senior NutZ. Check out a few photo's here:
http://www.zccr.net/main/modules.php?name=gallery2&g2_itemId=3525

- SMR has expanded their awards this year, a selected car will win $100 cash EACH HOUR of the show!  One ZCCR car will win "Best of Club", judges top 75 cars and specialty awards.
- We need lotZ of Zs to turn out to hold on to the coveted "Club Participation Award" held by ZCCR for three years running now.  Let's not lose it by being short only ONE car (which could be yours!).
- Lots of vendors, food, music, raffle prizes.
- The Street Machines of Rochester are a sponsor of ZCCR's All Japanese Car Show next month, let's show our appreciation and turn out to support their great car show!

* ZCCR Vice-President Mike Noonan celebrated a "landmark" birthday this past weekend. When you see him wish him a belated Happy Birthday.  Mike is much of the insight and drive behind ZCCR, we are fortunate to have him in the co-pilot's chair.

* Get your registration form in for our All Japanese Car Show Weekend!  Complete information on the event is located at the top of our website homepage.  You've heard about it.  You know about it.  Now register!

* We still need YOUR HELP enlisting sponsors for our All Japanese Car Show!  As you know this is a CHARITY event and net proceeds will be going to two fine local charities: The Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester and the Rochester/Finger Lakes Eye and Tissue Bank.  All of the cost to run the event and for the donations come from the generosity of our sponsors.  Once again, I am asking YOU to reach out to at least one sponsor to have them support the event.  Any willing sponsor will do, does not have to be only car-oriented.  Attached are the sponsor information and support levels.  Please print them out and help us out!  Email me if you have any questions.

The Applefest itself is worth going to with its craft market, food, games and much more!  Weather permitting (hey, it IS fall!) I will be entering my car in the show and I would love to have some of you join me.  After all, our cars will soon be hibernating again!  Send me an email at zcarnut@hotmail.com if you will be coming and we can make plans to join up for the show.

*  On Sunday October 11, we will end our 2009 driving season with our annual Fall Foliage Cruise.  ZCCR VP Mike Noonan has planned an exciting route through the Finger Lakes to take in the splash of vibrant fall colors.  Stops for antiquing, wineries and lunch along the way.  Take the chance to stretch your Zs legs one more time this year!  Watch your email and the website for complete departure details.

On September 19 myself, Mike Noonan, Ron Whitlock and Sam Hartley traveled to Middletown, CT. to take in the Connecticut Z Club's Annual Car Show.  What a great bunch the CT. club is!  We had a wonderful time and got to see some exciting Z-Cars of all generations.  The highlight of the show was the unveiling of the recently discoverd 1969 240Z #HLS30-00013, the very first Z ever sold to the public.  Owners Rick and Kathy Morgan had the car in storage for the past 30 years and were excited to share it with a bunch of total Z nuts!  I've invited Rick and Kathy, as well as the entire CT. Z Club to join us at our own Z weekend next summer and I hope they will join us!  Check out the car show pictures here:

The date for our year-ending Holiday Banquet is Saturday December 12, 2009.  This year we will be at Mickey Finn's in Victor NY.  A great buffet, music, bar and comraderie are in store.  The club will underwrite the majority of the cost to members, so please come out and send out the year on a high note!  Watch your email, postal mail and the website for information on reservations.

*  Watch the dates on your 2010 calendars NOW!  Our annual All Japanese Classic Car Weekend dates will be determined soon.  The schedule will include a Friday evening kickoff party. Saturday will have the 3rd Annual Jonathan Krenzer Memorial All Japanese Classic Car Show followed by a Saturday evening dinner and drinks at a fine local restaurant.  Sunday will start off with a road rally to Watkins Glen International Raceway for warm laps around the historic track in YOUR car followed by lunch at the WGI clubhouse.  It's sure to be the Z event of the year in the northeast!  Keep your eyes open for further details and plan on joining in on the fun!

Real Datsun/Nissan Race Cars on Display

Must Exit Sharpsite Racing Bonus for the AJCS Week-end

Hello Z friends!

I'm happy to let you all know of a very special event that had been added to our "All Japanese Classic Car Weekend" July 17-19.  In addition to the Friday evening social, Saturday Car Show and Saturday evening dinner, we will kick off our Sunday morning road rally from SHARPSITE RACING!

Dr. Allan Robbins is a huge vintage racing enthusiast, specifically with Datsuns.  He owns Sharpsite Racing which participates in vintage racing events around the country.  He also is owner of several original Datsun race cars, true Datsun racing history.  Among them;

*Car #0006, the first Z car to leave the factory.  Most of you know the story, this is the car that was sent to North America in October of 1969 to make the rounds on the car show circuit and for press previews.  After a  model sat on the roof at the Toronto Auto Show and dented it, Datsun gave the car to Bob Sharp Racing and he campaigned it to SCCA championships for many years with himself and later Jim Fitzgerald who also raced additional Z's.  Dr. Robbins owns this historic car in his collection.
More info here: http://www2.zhome.com:81/History/sharp.htm

*The Datsun 240Z IMSA GTU championship car driven to victory lane by Sam Posey.

*The Electamotive 280ZX driven by Don Devendorf.

*Several other vintage Zs 510s, 610s and roadsters in full race trim.

Our Sunday, July 19 Road Rally will start from Sharpsite Racing's Shop!

This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for any Datsun/Racing/History enthusiast to check out these historic cars all under one roof at the same time!

We will gather for breakfast Sunday morning, take a short drive to Sharpsite Racing and learn about the cars and their history.  Doc Robbins and his staff will be happy to answer any questions you may have.  We will then depart on a scenic road rally along the lakeshore to a lunch stop.

The entire weekend's events are sure to be the highlight of the driving season!  We hope you can join us!

ZCCR JUNE Monthly Membership Meeting

Must Exit
JUNE Member Meeting: Tuesday June 17 (NOTE NEW DATE & LOCATION!!)

We will be "on the road" to a new location: The Corner Sports Bar/Grapevine Restaurant, 122 Main St., East Rochester, NY.

We will have a private room to enjoy great, reasonably priced food n’ drink and the World of Classic Car Insurance will be explained to us by Chip Strowe, Personal Lines Manager for Brown & Brown Insurance of New York (Rochester). He'll cover what can be insured, carrier expectations for the insured, how value is determined, how different insurers assign values (some leave it to the owner, some demand a formal appraisal, some refer to book values, etc.), claims information & more, he'll also answer questions that will surely come up. Brown & Brown works with Hagerty and other insurers so there'll be more than one solution to a car owner's needs. They are also a full service provider that can serve other insurance needs so questions about homeowners, general auto, etc. can also be addressed if presented..

Plenty of free parking right across the street in the Techniplex Mall.  Dinner at 6pm, meeting at 7pm.

This is Gonna be Great!
