Hello All!
Yesterday, ZCCR kicked off our 2010 activities with our annual Groundhog Party held at Fellows Rd. Park in Perinton. A nice crowd turned out (without Zs of course!) to warm up the winter and catch up with each other.
The 2010 Chili Cook-Off Contest had a record number of entries with Meg Coon taking home 1st place in the people's choice voting. Meg was awarded a trophy and dinner gift certificate as her 1st place prize. Quite a sampling of spicy chilis warmed up everyone!
The big event of the day was the presentation of our 2009 ZCCR Member of The Year Award, presented to the ZCCR member who duting the year gave above and beyond the call of duty to enhance the club, promote the ZCCR fellowship and as Mr. K says "Loves Cars, Loves People and Loves Life". For his long standing contributions to the club in many capacities, sometimes quietly but never unnoticed, BOB ANDERSON was selected for the award. Well deserved and congratulations to Bob!
As you may have heard, the groundhog indeed saw his shadow and predicted another 6 weeks of winter. In this part of the world that is pretty much standard fare, so no worries, Z driving season begins in April!
Pictures of yesterday's event will be posted on the website soon.
NEXT UP: HOCKEY! The Rochester Americans will host ZCCR to their game against the Grand Rapids Griffins on Sunday March 14 at 3:00PM. ZCCR members can enjoy great $20 center ice seats for only $7.50 per person! Tickets are sure to go fast, so order yours now! Complete information is attached.

 It's Cold - It's Hot - We've Got It All Going On |
|
Hey all!
We've turned the corner in the winter season, more than halfway gone and that very small light you see at the end of the tunnel is the 2010 ZCCR driving season!
To celebrate the sprint to the winter finish line, ZCCR once again presents our annual GROUNDHOG PARTY next Sunday February 7! This year we are once again at the lodge at Fellows Road Park in Perinton/Fairport from 11am to 4pm. The lodge is located at 499 Fellows Road, see location 5 at this link).
Highlights this year are:
* The annual Chili Cook-Off! WHO has the best chili and can take home the title for 2010? Can Bob Anderson successfully defend his 2009 title? Who has the Rolaids? Participant voting on what chili is best, a special prize to the winner! All invited to participate, bring out your best! * Presentation of the 2009 ZCCR Member of the Year award! This honor is bestowed on the ZCCR member who went above and beyond the call of duty in the past year to promote the club, fellowship and the Z philospohy of "Love Cars, Love People, Love Life". * Will "Phil the Groundhog" see his shadow and doom us to 6 more weeks of winter OR will he come out and enjoy some chili and give us an early spring?
Please bring a dish to pass (even if you don't participate in the chili contest). Hot and cold beverage to be provided by ZCCR. Come enjoy a roaring fire and catch up with your frends. Let's thaw out the winter and look forward to ZCCR's BEST year ever!
Z you there!

2010 All Japanese Car Show Week-end featuring Watkins Glen International |
|
Hey all!
ZCCR has set the dates for our 2010 "All Japanese Car Weekend"! The event will run from Friday July 9 to Sunday July 11. (Please note that the dates have been CHANGED from any previously released information)
I am encouraging you to set these dates aside so you can join us for this very special summer Z event.
The schedule of events:
Friday July 9: Kickoff party for all participants. Refreshments provided free of charge. Saturday July 10: The Third Annual "Jonathan Krenzer Memorial All Japanese Car Show". Spend the day at a multi-class car show featuring the best of Japan old and new. Saturday evening gather at a local establishment of fine food and drink to relive the events of the day. Sunday July 11: Start the morning with a road rally through the twisty roads of New York's Finger Lakes region to the historic Watkins Glen International raceway. Participants will enjoy warm laps around the race course (they like to call them the 'Thunder Road' tours) in their cars then stay for a catered lunch in the WGI clubhouse. What is a lap around New York's Thunder Road really like? How about this: Follow the pace car down the FrontStretch into the Ninety, twist, climb and claw your way up through the Esses and onto the BackStretch, braking as you hit the Inner Loop and navigate the Carousel turn, then drop off the face of the earth into the depths of the turn-heavy Boot, climb your way out into Turn Ten, regain your senses and make a run for the finish line!
Here is a link to photos of the 2009 event.
Full details and pre-registration for the event will be available early next year. This is shaping up to be the biggest 2010 Z/Japanese car event in the northeast! Please share this information with your friends and club members and keep checking our website for the latest information.
Peaze,
John Taddonio "zcarnut" 70,78,87,03 Z-Cars President, Z Car Club of Rochester NY www.zccr.net
